It was at one of these dream jobs that I met B. She was my "boss," though I thought everybody there was my boss. This came in handy, both when I couldn't remember somebody's name ("Hey! Good morning, boss.) and when I wanted to shirk resposibility for something I'd done wrong, which was often ("Ooooooh, I didn't know I was supposed to do it that way. My boss told me to do it this way. My bad." Seeing her yesterday was fun. It was the first time we'd spent time together outside of the work environment and, while it may go without saying, I definitely had a better time with her at Denny's than I ever had with her at work. Maybe that's all her husband's doing, though. He was a treat too and, together, they were hilarious. It was the sort of situation where, after driving away from it, I started to wonder why it hadn't been done before. The work / private life divide is a bitch though, and is often hard to break through. But sometimes, that's the way it goes, in life and in the high stakes, take-no-prisoners game of weird-ass jobs.
